Megan in Spain

Well, after 3 lovely months of living in Spain, the study abroad program finally came to an end. We had a graduation ceremony at the University of Alcala on Thursday April 2 and then most of us went our separate ways. Megan was coming the next day supposedly in the early afternoon, but her flight got ultra delayed so I spent the day eating thai food with some people from the group and then wandering around Madrid with Mark while we awaited her arrival.

Finally she came and we dropped her stuff off at the hotel and went out for kebabs.

She liked them a lot (obviously because we are sisters). Then we checked out the Plaza Mayor because it is lovely at night.

On our way back to the hotel we stopped in the Plaza España. Here's me with my pal Don Quixote, whose book I finally finished reading after about a month and a half of struggling through it.

The next morning we started the day of right with a chocolate croissant from the delicious Sol bakery.

Then we saw the Palacio Real. Megan was quite excited about it.

Then we headed over to the Parque del Buen Retiro and rowed a boat.


That afternoon I dragged Megan through the Reina Sofia art museum and then just a couple hours later I took her to the Prado. Her feet were rather tired at the end of the day.

The next morning, Sunday, we headed to the Rastro, which is a sweet market in Madrid. Then we ate paella in the Plaza Mayor, which is an experience everyone should have.

After lunch we went to the Thyssen-Bornemisza museum (another art museum), where we met up with Mark. Then we headed over to a bullfight where we met up with Bryanne and Mark's mom, aunt, and uncle. The first matador to go got gored in the leg. Intense.

Then the four of us went out for kebabs and ice cream. A perfect end to Megan's trip to Spain.
