Basically, we lead incredibly exciting lives. I just love the intensity and individual flare brought by each person. The range of emotions is astounding; I may send this in to America's Next Top Model. I'm sure we would all make it.

Roomies
After an exciting FHE of swimming (in a freezing cold pool) and playing "hovering bunnies" we managed to snag this awesome dinosaur shot of the 6 of us.

The Joys of Cleaning Early in the Morning
Regency Apartments has this annoying thing they doe every other week called a cleaning check. Now, normally I am all for a little cleaning check every once in awhile to make sure that the apartments stay nice; however, this is no little cleaning check. Every other other week (once a month) the cleaning check is INTENSE. The other cleaning check once a month is more like a tidiness check. It just so happens that the intense cleaning check fell on the busiest weekend of my life. I returned home Friday night around 12:30 or so and chatted with my roommates, only to discover that all of them except Maggie and I had already finished their assigned tasks. Knowing that the cleaning check would occur at 10 the next morning, Maggie and I decided to just stay up and clean until we finished. As we began going through our list of tasks, we started to realize the ridiculous nature of this check. Here is Maggie scrubbing the vent after cleaning the fridge and defrosting the freezer:
I somehow landed the most random of the jobs. I cleaned the dishwasher (yes...scrubbed the inside and outside of our dishwasher, partly with a toothbrush like suggested in the cleaning manual). I also scrubbed the floor, did the dishes, washed the walls, cleaned the storage room and defrosted our other freezer (with a blow dryer). Boy was I thrilled with my life.
Around 4 in the morning when we were almost done, we decided to reward our hard work with a delicious midnight snack (though it was really more like breakfast).
Yes. We ate hot dogs at 4 in the morning. Delicious. I think I went to bed around 5 in the morning, a full 24 hours after I had woken up the previous morning. I then woke up at 9:30 to clean my room and then returned to bed. I was sound asleep when the cleaning check actually occurred (on top of my bed because I didn't want to ruin its beautifully made state). And that my friend, is the joy of cleaning early in the morning...you get to eat hot dogs.

Ode to a Casserole Pan
One of the greatest things about college life is the improvisations one gets to make while cooking. Take this example: Maren, Danae, and I decided to make some delicious mint brownies. The only problem was, we had no 9x13 pan, or anything remotely close to it. Being the incredibly smart and innovative students that we are, we solved the problem by using two casserole type pans. With that problem solved, we began the exciting adventure of creating this masterpiece of chocolate-mint delight.
After combining these many wonderful ingredients, we placed the brownies in the oven to bake and started on the mint frosting.
That turned out mostly wonderful (it was a slightly different consistency than usual...but other than that it was excellent). After finishing the mint frosting, I encountered our next problem: we
did not have a double boiler. Rather than making my own with two saucepans, I thought I would take a shortcut and just microwave all the ingredients and mix them together. My suggestion to you is not to try it.
After much microwaving and mixing I finally reached a consistency that seemed close enough to the one I had achieved in the past and frosted the brownies.
They ended up turning out quite delicious. I'm not saying they would win any awards for beauty, or maybe even taste, but for brownies made in casserole pans with microwaved glaze they were absolutely amazing.

Mix and Match
On Sunday it was both Danae and I's first time attending our ward, coincidentally it was also ward conference. Now it just so happens that we had discovered only a few days earlier that we have matching dresses in different colors. It seemed only natural that we should thus match at church.
Now, in all honesty, we looked adorable...walking up to church together, sitting together and returning home. The only thing we had not planned on was the stake relief society presidency coming and giving a lesson on visiting teaching and how companions should work together. They role played, and two of the ladies were called "mix and match"...now the truly funny thing is, Danae and I had just found out that we were visiting teaching companions. Oh the cruel humor. After that we simply had to embrace the awkwardness/embarrassment of being matching visiting teaching companions.

Go Cougars
Life is going pretty well if you call yourself a cougar fan. BYU owned UCLA in the game last week with a final score of 59-0. This was probably all due to the awesome face painting that went down that day. Camille, me, and Brittany are modeling our sweet paint below.

We came back strong again this week with a nice 44-0 victory against Wyoming. (and we managed that without the face paint, hard to believe I know) Despite the weather forecast of deadly cloud to ground lightning, we stayed dry the whole game (and didn't see any lightning of the killing kind). This of course meant that it was insanely hot, but don't worry, we still managed to have a wacky good time (as demonstrated by me, Kelsey, and Kristin below).

The Color Code
I went over to Stephanie and Courtney's apartment just to hang out and came home enlightened. They have become obsessed with this book The Color Code by Dr. Taylor Hartman and were making everyone take the personality test. The results describe your personality in terms of colors: red, blue, white, or yellow. After answering a series of 40ish questions I learned I was a White, which is described as the peace-maker. Here is a brief summary of each color:
- RED (Motive: POWER)—These are the power wielders. Power, the ability to move from point A to point B, and get things done is what motivates and drives these people. They bring great gifts of vision and leadership and generally are responsible, decisive, proactive and assertive.
- BLUE (Motive: INTIMACY)—These are the do-gooders. Intimacy, connecting, creating quality relationships and having purpose is what motivates and drives these people. They bring great gifts of quality and service and are generally loyal, sincere, and thoughtful.
- WHITE (Motive: PEACE)—These are the peacekeepers. Peace, or the absence of conflict, is what motivates and drives these people. They bring great gifts of clarity and tolerance and are generally kind, adaptable, good-listeners.
- YELLOW (Motive: Fun)—These are the fun lovers. Fun, or the joy of doing something just for the sake of doing it, is what motivates and drives these people. They bring great gifts of enthusiasm and optimism and are generally charismatic, spontaneous, and sociable.

The Lovebug
Monday August 18 just might have been the best night of my life up to this point; I was definitely hit by the lovebug. You would probably be saying this too if Joe Jonas had winked at you.

Like I said, the concert was amazing, and the company was even better. We danced and screamed as they opened with "That's just the way we roll." By the time they closed with "S.O.S." We were both hoarse and near tears from the amazingness of the night. All I can say is, I'm glad Megan turned 16 this summer, giving me an excuse to see these delightful disney channel stars.
In honor of Megan's 16th birthday we went to the Jonas Brothers concert and it was amazing. Everyone should go see it. We were very excited as we waited for our favorite boys to start serenading us. (you think we're excited here, but you should have seen us when they were actually singing)
